Commencement
Academic Distinction
Candidates for the baccalaureate degree who have:
- Completed at least 60 semester hours of letter-graded coursework (including S/U) at º£½ÇÆÆ½â°æ

Coursework completed at other institutions are eligible for consideration if all º£½ÇÆÆ½â°æ coursework
meets the criteria defined in the º£½ÇÆÆ½â°æ Undergraduate Catalog.
- If the combined GPA of grades for º£½ÇÆÆ½â°æ coursework and coursework attempted at all other instutitions do not meet all criteria, you will not qualify for academic distinction.
- If the GPA for coursework from all other institutions is higher than the º£½ÇÆÆ½â°æ GPA, only the º£½ÇÆÆ½â°æ GPA will be taken into account when determining academic distinction.
- If courses have been repeated for grade replacement, honor points for all attempts of a course will be averaged.
Students who have a cumulative grade point average defined below will receive:

3.600 to 3.749
- The academic distinction of Cum Laude
- A silver medallion on a gold ribbon

3.750 to 3.899
- The academic distinction of Magna Cum Laude
- A silver medallion on a purple ribbon

3.900 or higher
- The academic distinction of Summa Cum Laude
- A silver medallion on a red ribbon

Honors Scholars
An Honors Scholar is a student who has completed Honors coursework in their Major, Department, College, or Pre-Law Honors Minor. These candidates wear a gold medallion on a light blue ribbon.

College Scholars
Each of º£½ÇÆÆ½â°æ's four academic colleges and the University Libraries select a graduating senior as the college's outstanding student. College Scholars wear a gold medallion on a purple and gold ribbon in recognition of their high achievement.
Departmental Scholars
Departmental Scholars are the outstanding undergraduate degree candidates in an academic major as determined by the faculty in the major department. These candidates wear a gold medallion on a sapphire blue ribbon.
